Make Installation Floppies Win 98 Se Cd
There was a CD lying around with Windows 98 SE on it, though the CD is very old so I can't really install from it. I copied Win95 setup files from an other CD to the Hard Disk (with Lubuntu), and then restarted my PC with the really old CD on it. Sorry but this is really the simplest and easiest solution. If you really want to buy the floppy disk version of Windows 98 then go to eBay or other websites and look for it. It will be way more expensive than a new CD-ROM drive (that is if you ever manage to find it). Edited December 22, 2012 by tomasz86. Type CD FAT32EBD hit enter. Insert a NEW floppy disk into your floppy drive. Type FAT32EBD hit enter. Then follow the instructions. When you're done, write protect the floppy (by sliding the little plastic switch so you can see two holes) and reboot your 'puter with the new boot disk in the floppy drive.

My Win98SE desktop has a missing partition. Not to mention, the computer doesn't boot up properly. I think I have corrupted himem.sys, explorer, and sysmon files. Oh yeah, and somethings wrong with the registry.Kernelex Win 98 Se
Anyway, I have already tried fixing the himem.sys file and the repairing the registry. Ultimately these solutions don't work. As stated above, I have a missing partition on the computer. I'm after the files in that partition but since I can't get the computer to boot up and stay up (not even in Safe Mode), I can't get those files. I've heard of Win98 boot CD's and I think that might allow me to boot up using the CD and then run a recovery app.
Since I never made one before my computer went on the fritz and it's basically too late now, does anyone know where I can get a free copy/image of a generic Win98SE boot CD? This is my only solution.

p.s. Please don't refer me to a DOS boot disk web page.
I have a TOSHIBA SAtelite laptop from the century past, (yes that's right). It allows me to get into the COMMAND PROMPT (sometimes), but many times it stalls after it requested that I insert the WINDOW 98 (* startup disk number 2. I do not have such a disk. I do have several legitimate copies of win 98 on cd, but need assistance in either extracting the proper sequence of files from those cds onto a floppy disk that would solve the problem, or to find a diagnostic and repair tool that can fit onto a floppy disk and automatically sense and restore the machine. The files are not that import that were on the computer, so it is not important to try a factory reset. that is to say, I would sanction the proper command prompt to restore the device to its original; factory state. I do believe that it is so possible to do that.i had many programs on floppy disk that diagnostically corrected problems in the past, but of course things are getting scrambled and I am i n search of expert help on this matter.i am sometimes able to get into the MSD and need to change some of the BIOS settings that would allow the computer to boot up into the A. DRIVE AS WELL AS OTHER RESTORATIVE EDITS. I AM SURE that i am not the only Legacy aficionado out here.Somehow the computer has installed conflicting editions of windows 95 and windows 98. It also reports that the windows dos 3.22 is no the correct DOs. I have tried to manually install it but it will not happen. Also tried to xcopy the present copy and then to overwrite it, but that didn't work.
