Install Ubuntu Dell Venue 8 Pro
I know these just came out but I was wondering if anyone had tried to install ubuntu on the Dell Venue pro 8 or 11. You can see the specs at dells website here:

Most other tablets seem to run 'arm' which from everything I've read is a pain however these come with full blown windows 8.1 and an unlocked boot loader. They have an SD card slot and a micro USB (which I could boot a usb from with an adapter). The only thing I'm worried about is if I come up against some kind of weird driver or hardware issue. I've googled 'linux on dell venue 8 pro' but have just found a bunch of reviews. I don't want to buy it unless I can get rid of windows and run ubuntu. Thoughts?
Dell Venue 8 Pro here, with 32 GB of storage. I had the 40% / 23% hang twice, the first time I waited on that screen for 24 hours. During that time, I had read about removing peripherals, so at hour 16 I took out the µSD, but that didn't work.
I would like to know if I can restore a recent backup file from my older XP Pro sp3 system onto the new 8.1 pro Hyper-V system. One of the S/W packages uses a USB HASP copy protection device that appears to work properly on the new 8.1 Pro system. Also, can I simply install the surviving XP Pro sp3 SATA hard drive (that is compatible with the new 8.1 Pro Client Hyper-V system) and use it via Hyper-V, rather than using Windows XP Pro sp3 Restore? I installed Client Hyper-V. The old XP Pro sp3 system contained critical/expensive S/W that I need to use.
Right click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties b. Click on Hardware and sound and click on Find and fix problems with devices and hardware and proceed further. Select Compatibility Tab c. Method 2: Install the latest driver from manufacturer You may get it at the site: If there is not driver available for Windows 8, install the driver for lower version of operating system in compatibility mode: a.

I just found out about a new type of tablets performant enough to run for example windows 8 such as the Dell venue 8 pro. I was wondering, is it possible to install Ubuntu Desktop on such a device, would the touch function work with the hardware? Did anyone manage to run Ubuntu on this tablet or do we need to wait until release of Ubuntu touch. I know the Dell Venue 8 android version came out relatively recently, but as it has processor that is x86 32 bit and 2gb of RAM, is there a way to install Ubuntu Desktop -not touch- as the OS while still.
